The Importance of a RECOVERY Routine!
Everyone stresses movement and exercise, but something that isn’t talked about or emphasized enough is RECOVERY. If you don’t have a recovery routine already in place, then let’s get one! I’m going to go through exactly WHY recovery is important and recovery methods you can implement today. Let’s dive in!
Why Recovery is Important
- Recovery can actually allow you to show up STRONGER in your workouts.
- Recovery doesn’t = lazy, let’s get that out of the way right now! I personally aim to get in at least 1-2 recovery days per week. You could need more or less depending on the level of intensity of your workouts too. You should consult a certified personal trainer to determine the best cadence for you.
- Your muscles need time to repair.
- According to Shape Magazine, when you exercise, “microscopic tears are created in the muscles, and sleep is when the bulk of the repair process happens, which is an imperative part of muscle adaptation and of getting stronger/fitter/better and staying injury-free.”
- You definitely don’t want to sabotage yourself by NOT recovering. You’re putting in all of the work with your exercise, but be sure to also give your body it’s time to do it’s thing as well.
Recovery Methods
So now that you’re convinced on WHY recovery is important, let’s dive into some of my favorite recovery methods. I swear by these, and one specifically (this Massage Gun) – I’m super excited to tell you about!
- SKG F5 Portable Massage Gun:
- Number one – absolutely love the size of this!: It’s so small, lightweight and portable too! It’s designed so that it’s ergonomically comfortable to hold and easy to get all muscle areas. I can easily reach my upper back which is always a pain point for me!
- Heating capabilities: This is something NO other massage guns have, which helps to warm up your muscle, dissolve the lactic acid and relax your muscles.
- 3 Different Speed Options: The gun can go from 1200 RPM for simple muscle relief all the way up to 2500 RPM to relax the fascia tissue to 3200RPM to break up lactic acid in your muscles.
- Foam Rolling:
- I love combining foam rolling with the SKG F5 Portable Massage Gun to break up more of the lactic acid for the bigger muscles too.
- Stretching:
- Stretching pre and post workout is so key for recovery! I love stretching after my workout when my muscles are warm, and I sometimes will even do a full body stretching class too!
Now that we’ve gone through why recovery is important and also different methods to implement recovery into your routine, I hope you add it in to the mix! Be sure to grab your SKG Massage Gun F5 as soon as you can while it’s still on sale (currently up 10% off) on amazon! Grab it here!
